Don't worry, Loki was super scared at first, but what I would do is put a silk plant in front of his cage with some branches going into his cage and close the door and leave for 20 min or so and he would be out on the silk plant when I came back. Then I would very slowly introduce him to me by slowly sliding my hand underneath his chin so he could climb up on me, and sometimes he would and sometimes he would "panic" and get away from me. Either way I would let him be for another 10-15 min until he calmed down. I would do this every weekend when he was little and when I could finally hold him(he would still get upset sometimes at this point) I would take him outside and put him on a plant since my hand was still so forgien to him. When Loki was still small though he would lose heat fast so I'd have to slowly get him back into his cage after a few handling tries. I think they all have their own personalities reading what others have put on here, and I know some people are not wanting to handle their cham at all to prevent stressing them out, but I feel that if you shelter them from EVERYTHING, they will get stressed out so much easier. That's how it seems with Loki anyways. Now he's always relaxed(I haven't seen him fire up for months!) and actually begs to come out and crawls out onto my arm no problem. It just takes a lot of time and patience. You definitely don't want to over handle because they are delicate and you don't want to comprimise their health, but I feel that there is a grey area with this and it's not so "don't handle at all" or "handle all the time", and it also depends on the cham IMO. Regarding the free range, He does stay on it, and I've left him there overnight before and he was fine, but you have to pay attention and check on them to make sure they don't get too bold and I always leave the doors to the room closed when he's out in it lol Mine is next to two windows and has plenty of climbing room so he doesn't get bored, and he absolutely loves to stare out the window! I don't have lights in my free range though so it's something I leave him in for a few hours at a time for extra exercise!
