Hi Everyone,

quick question needing urgent answer.....

We are thinking of getting Luna some Live plants. I have looked on the resources pages and got some names. Do I specifiy need the specific name such as Devil ivy or can I use a common Ivy??

Same with Hibiscus can i use any speices or speficily Hibiscus - China Rose

Thank for your help

To ovoid confusion, don't use the term Devil's Ivy. It's Pothos, call it that and you will avoid any possible confusion. Common Ivy is poisonous and should not be used.

All hibiscus is safe.

Today I have picked up a Weeping Fig and I also picked up a umberella plant (Schefflera). are both of these ok?

Wicked I was walking round our garden centre with a list of only ones i could have and they were the only one i could get.

do i have to replant or anything?

Yes, you should always replant new plants. They are commonly root bound from the nursery. Also you need to make provisions for the plants to deal with the amount of water they will be getting. At the very least put some gravel in the bottom of the pot. Some members have reported success with using a sand cocoa fiber mixture as soil.

It's advisable to wash the leaves of any new plant with soapy water to remove any pesticide/fertiliser residue and rinse well after. I also cover the soil with large pebbles to stop Amy from eating the soil. I got Amy a large Hibiscus for £7.99 from my local Thompson's garden centre.:D
