Hi Everyone - we recently purchased our new veiled named Jenny.

Can you tell me

1. what kind of plants would be best for her? She lives indoors and we're in Florida. I have heard that some plants that have been treated with insecticides can kill chams so I don't know where to buy or what kind.

2. Also, what is the best type of lamp for her?

Appreciate any and all help!

Welcome and where in Florida? Pothos, Scheflera, and Ficus are great plants, so are Hibiscus but they are hard to keep alive indoors. Just wash the plants well in a huge bucket of soapy water, rinse well, rinse again :), and then repot in organic soil and you are good to go!

Your going to need 2 lights, one for UV and one for basking. Your UV light should be a tube style light, the Reptisun 5.0 and 10.0 seem to be what everyone is using depending on your cage size. Your basking bulb should be a regular house bulb between 40 and 60 watts but you might have to tweak it to get your temps just right

Hi Again!

I'm in Naples. I really appreciate everyone's responses as I need all the help I can get! :p I want to be the most responsible cham owner I can be.

I'll do that with the plants and also get those lights. Right now I just have the big Fluker light with a 75 watt bulb but I'll get the tube style light. What is the ideal temp for the cham cage?

Thanks again!

I keep my females basking at about 80-85 and the rest of the cage is in the 70s range. It seems to cool off a bit right after i mist, but only a few degrees, then its comes right back up in about 5 min
