Little tiny gnats? Are they just part of the hobby?

I’m curious about all of the little tiny flying bugs that seem to hang around the dirt in some of my plants. It seems even if I go a while inbetween watering and let the dirt dry, they still persist. It’s not like it’s too many but do any of you guys do anything specific to keep them at bay?

They're a complete pain in the rear! I've found I have to water all my plants with mosquitoe bit/dunk tea once a month to rid them, on top of other various preventions. I have a good thread on them here.
