So since I changed the location of Jaspers cage and its winter here in Colorado there isnt going to be sunlight getting to the plants. Could I get a grow light or would that be bad for Jasper?

So now the dumb question.... do I just place the light next to my uvb bulb or does it need to be higher off the cage?

There are a good amount of people (including myself) that use a double fixture and have a 5.0 reptisun and grow light in the same fixture.

One thing to note is that the "grow lights" are usually useless and are just made to make the plants look better, not for actual growth.

What i've read is that you want a bulb around 6500k and that the aquarium/plant lights are good for promoting plant growth.

Go to Lowes and look for a 6500K color temp light. They sell a CFL in 6500K and a tube.

two 48" 6500K color temp tubes costs about 7 bucks.... so don't go buying 'name brand' or 'grow light' branded lights.. they just have a fancy label.
