Lighting help please

I am a new Jacksons owner and most of my information so far has come from this website. I was recently told to get a reptisun 5.0 and a regular house light. How long should I leave each light on?

Lights should be on for 10-12 hours each day and then total darkness at night (no night light).

What about when it gets colder during the winter time? Still no lights at night?

I know they are used to a drop at nighttime, but it gets pretty cold.

It gets cold here in Scotland. I use a basking lamp during the day but an ordinary household bulb will be fine. A 40 or 60 watt. And a ceramic heat emitter at night, both on a thermostat. Temp drops when uv goes off at bedtime.

As long as temps dont drop below 50 at night, he'll be just fine.
