most of us use regular house bulbs for basking, its cheaper.

as for a dimmer, cant help you there.

They sell dimmer switches that are made like an extension cord. You plug it into the outlet, and then plug the dome lamp into the dimmer. They have them in the hardware store in the same aisle as the switches and outlets, should be next to the regular wall dimmer switches. I use a regular house bulb, but I wanted to be able to raise and lower the temp without changing the bulb.
