Hi I use soft white household light bulbs for basking my chams. Do they give them UVA like the pet store bulbs. What should I be using for them?

Soft white is fine. Yes they give off some uva. I prefer the 2 buck 45-65 watt spot lights. There is nothing special about the cool whites at the pet store with a lizard on them. They dont have phosphors so they cant make one light put out more uv anthing than another light, call they can control is how hot the coil is in the light bulb, that makes it a warm white or a cool white.

If you want out door looking like, get the cool white. it should be in the 5-7k range(real light is 6.5k), warm white is all the way down in the 2-3k range.

What's cool light? I don't know if your misunderstanding. The light bulbs I use are soft white. I'll take a photo to be sure you no. But what you mentioned outdoor light that be cool how to do it?

Don't worry, it makes no difference in incandescent bulbs.
Just try to buy a good brand like GE or something because they have way better QC.
Get several wattages and test them at your basking spot several times with a good digital thermometer and take the average.
On my set ups, a 60W bulb will range from 78 to 102F depending on room temp.
You really need to monitor the temps over time.
Most ppl don't bother

Thanks I use these 100 watts and my temps are 80-83 for two chams and the other 50 watt 80-83 smaller cage. Just thought with them not eating these change in light bulbs could be a factor. I used the yellow and green label Exo terra bulbs. But took a look at receipt 6-7 bucks was like wow.
