While the loss of Jade still stings, nothing will bring my baby back. And she would want to know that someone else had a chance like she was given…even though she was a moody little thing.

Today I adopted a juvenile that the pet store has set as unsellable because they said he had problems. “Shakiness while walking” they took him to the vet and they told them it’s either neurological or nutrient deficiency. They were advised to increase calcium/D3 and they said the problem has started to resolve.

Meet Leon.

He’s doing really well. Growing like a weed. Has weird quirks I had to adjust too but we are learning eachother together!

That’s wonderful! It’s funny how they really do have personalities. I feel they are so underrated for pets.

I had to email bill strand to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong because of the stuff he does.

Hey there. The branch he is sitting on is far too large. They need to be able to fully grip. Why do your lights look to be purple/blue? Something is off with the lighting... It should shine white.

The lighting isn’t purple and blue that’s for some reason how it shows up when I take a picture of it.

His heat bulb is Arcadia Heat Lamp
There is a grow bulb there for plants
And then his linear UVB bulb

All of which are getting replaced today, his new lights show finally be there.

I will find a new suitable branch. - thank you.

Info you may already know so sorry if I repeat:
You may want to pull the fake plants and drape them oh the outside of the enclosure to keep him feeling safe but he won’t be at risk of eating a fake leaf and getting impacted. Not sure if he’s a leaf muncher or not but even my panthers have accidentally grabbed a leaf while eating before. Little stinkers. Ha!

Under those fakes is wire and I don’t want him injuring himself on them.

He’s not a leaf anything, he doesn’t even drink off of them that’s why I emailed bill strand because Leon will have a beautiful variety of leaves to drink off of all around him and ignore every single one of them and go right to the top screen and drink.

After describing everything to him he said he didn’t hear anything that sounded problematic to Leon’s health and said it’s in the bucket of one of his quirks.

Leon is …… special.

Jade didn’t keep me guessing like this.

Like he got these brand new lights and acted like a little fool about himself.

But, one this is for sure, it was like someone plugged a charging cable to him he was so energetic after he got his new UVB it was ridiculous he was everywhere like a little race care.

Looks great, and I’m glad Leon loves his new uvb! Just remember to switch out his basking branch, too. Also, when putting the new vines in, don’t attach them to the ceiling of cage, just on the sides and onto/through other structures in the cage. Leon sounds like a handful , at least he’s cute!
