hi my name is pam and i got a chameleon on saturday never had 1 before iv had snakes and an iguana and any information on them would be gratefully recieved. I think its a veiled chameleon and its a female about 12 months old iv got all the viv set up and lighting i sray the tank about 4 times a day. I looked for information on the internet but they all say differant so im a bit confused im feeding her locusts at the moment and i would love to know what else to feed her. Do they like to b handled i have lifted her out but she gets white stripes down her body can any 1 tell me y plz. As u can see i need all the help i can get so plz help me thank you very much.

thank you i have looked at that site i will try and put pics on (well my daughter will) lol im not good at that. Im a bit worried that i might do something wrong or the tanks not big enough the tank size is 2ft wide 18inch high and 14inch deep is that big enough.

Yes, that is too short, and by the sound of it, is made of glass which chameleons don't generally get along with.

18" high I don't think is sufficient enough, but that is just me. Chameleons like height more than anything. They like to climb to the highest point and be far away from the ground so they can feel safe.

My setup is a 260 gallon flexarium, it is 6 feet high by 3 feet wide and deep. Now you don't have to go crazy like I did, but just to give you an example. I think the average is 3 feet high, but if you do that make sure it is on something that is fairly high like an end table so that the chameleon feels more secure.

Read on that site raising kiity the veiled chameleon, it is excellent, I can guarantee that you will find everything you need to know on that site. Someone posted it on a thread above this one.

Good Luck and happy raising.

If your hubby goes to LLL reptile you will find cages that are great prices and will be able to buy instantly. I have gone to ebay on more than one occassion and haven't found a size or price that couldn't be matched by a reputable store. They are located in California.

new too

Hi
I'm new to it all too, got a Yemmen Veiled for Christmas and reading as much as I can. Already have Beardies but they are quite different. My problem , being in England in December, is the temperature. It is in the minus figures outside at the mo and we are having to keep the heating on much more than usual to help viv temperatures. She seems happy tho. Good luck

I'm having the same problem with the temp. The heating bill in my house is going to be HUGE! It's worth it to make my little fella happy though!
