Laser Focused on, Nothing???

Okay guys, this is strange and starting to concern me, for about the last 4-5 hours, my cham has been in the same spot, laser focused looking at the same spot below him, but there is nothing there. At least nothing I can see???

I have pet him, and disturbed his focus, he will look at me when I do, then goes right back to looking down, at well NOTHING???? I moved him to another branch, he WENT BACK! And started staring down AGAIN.

There is no bugs there, no nothing, there is a Leaf from the birdsnest fern, and a branch, thats literally it. I have looked on the leaf, for any bugs or something nothing there, yet he has a Laser Focus to something down there.

I have never seen him, or any other reptile for that matter, or anyone elses Chameleon do this, Its weird, been going on for hours, and I am starting to get worried.

His cage is haunted, call an exorcism, and get a priest.

Their vision is so much better than ours he could be seeing something you can't, try moving him elsewhere and see what he does.

If he does this in a new room/cage then start worrying.

Ya sorry, I edited it, with more.

I did that, he went back!

Apparently something I cant see, he can, and he is VERY intrigued. I do not know if I should be concerned, is there something he sees that is concerning him, or what.

I meant does he focus on something after being put in a new cage after a few hourss?

Ohh I dont have another cage he can go into ATM.

But I moved him to the other side of his 4ft wide cage, and he returned back to the same spot he was, and looked down, like he was. He did not just randomly laser focus, where I put him, he went back to where he was.

He has been staring for a LONG time though, he did not even move when his misters went off. Which is not like him AT ALL.

I will try to move him again and see what he does.

Then I bet there are bugs or something interesting. If he has full control of his eyes then I would worry overly much, take pictures of the leaf, maybe we can find the thrips or other small critters your missing....

I tried its hard getting a photo with him in the way lol.

I moved him, and this time he was NOT happy about it. He kept trying to grab leaves, and get off my hand and back to his spot, but I just kept putting my other hand underneath his front legs, (which is how I always get him out, he is not a nice panther, so I have to go very slow with him)

Once we were out, he tried to bite me, so he was not happy about being moved. I put him on the other side on his favorite branch, he ran to the center (was on far left) and he is sitting in the center still. Ill grab another pic from where he was.

So I snapped a few where he was, and he is not focused now, he is usual eyes all over, and puffing up mad at me in the center.

The best pic I could get below him, is of the center of the birds nest fern, and maybe he sees something in there.

I just put my phones camera near where his eyes were and snapped pic button a bunch of times.

It looks like there could be some spring tails or other very small bugs in that area, obviously I can't be sure but if there was gonna be action that's a good place for it.

He has kind of started making his way, back to where he was, but he is still on branches not the vine, like he was. He is looking around rapidly, like normal now, and seems to just be mad at me, and moved to behind the leaves.

Probably right, there was likely something in there, maybe its gone now or something. If he did it for a little while, I wouldn't have been so concerned, but its 6 now and he has been there doing that since like noon, so I was getting worried lol. I feel bad, interrupting his entertainment now, but it was scary lol.

I causally noticed, him sitting there, around noon. However what struck me is odd, is he didnt move for his misting. At all, which sometimes he likes being in the water, but he was 3 inches from the rear left mister, he got SOAKED, and didn't budge. Just kept looking down. So something there, was REALLY holding his attention. That mist is at 1:30, and he stayed there, till well now.

I pet him and messed with him a bit at 2:30, and moved him at 3:30, and yet he is still focused. So I pet him again, before making this, and again he looked at me, and the second i retracted my hand, boom laser focus downward again.

Weird that it was so long, I guess keep an eye out for any other odd behavior.

Defiantly will be.

At this point, if he was staring at something I dont think it was something he felt concerning, as when I moved him this time, he did NOT want to go, he does not want out of his cage, not one bit.

Which is also unusual, as he doesn't usually like being out of his cage too much, but he does everyday scracth at the door he wants opened, until I open it, then he will sit there, and watch everybody, the dog ect, from his branches that gets him partially out of the cage (his head is out an inch or 2) so while he doesn't want taken out, he wants to be able to stick his head out and see whats going on, pretty much everyday from 2ish to 4ish.

This has been mentioned before it seems, here.

No update to what was causing it or anything though.

This guy had the exact seem thing happen, and its exactly like he said. A trance like state.

Carol in the comments mentioned having it happen, when there was a pink towel on the floor, but it went away after removing it. Nothing in his cage has changed though.

@PetNcs @kinyhave you guys ever seen something like this??

I figured maybe he was day dreaming, thinking that birds nest fern was filled with yummy butter worms.

I mean humans space out some times like that, maybe chams can too lol.

So he was doing it again today. But! This time, and I had to check, a few times to be sure, he was only looking with 1 eye, he was in that spot again, but this time he was looking around his viv and at me with the eye facing, me, but the other one, laser focused in that same spot!

I just bothered him a bit, he was not as mad about moving this time, he was not happy about it (He usually isnt, I am still working on him getting to accept dealing with me) but he didn't hiss, or try to bite or anything, he did try to hold onto a leaf with a tail, I slid my other hand there and he grabbed that, and then did his usual run to my back and tried to get on my head. Being that I dont have hair, that idea never pans our for him, he just scratches the crap out of my neck lol. So then he does circles arm to arm, being a pain!

Point is, he was more normal today, whilst still staring at that same spot. So there is something there that interests him, IDK what it is, but he likes looking at it.
