Large Black Spot on Tail

Hi! I have a one year old veiled chameleon and I've noticed a black on the bottom of his tail. It has gradually gotten bigger but the texture has not changed. He was shedding and there is a piece of dead skin on top of the spot. His behavior has not changed and his diet is the same. He roams around my room a lot and I'm not sure if he fell and it's a bruise or something worse.

A bruise wouldn't stop shedding on that spot. Some sort of skin injury is under that shed. You could try gently soaking it in warm water to loosen the shed and maybe it will come off on its own. It might clarify what is going on underneath. Don't force the old skin loose or you could do more damage. Could be a burn or an infection or simply dirt that is making it harder for the old skin to come loose. Can't really say for sure, but after the old shed comes off if the skin underneath doesn't look normal, think about a vet visit. There is a cream called Silvadene (there are generics but I don't know the brand names) that is very good for healing and preventing secondary infection.
