Has anyone seen their K.multituberculata chew on plants?
My son caught one of ours doing just that.
I didn't think they generally chomped on vegetation
Would love to hear if anyone else has witnessed the same behavior in theirs.
For those wondering, it's a hibiscus plant.
I have not witnessed this with multituberculata. Although I have only kept two of them. I have not seen this with any of the other Kinyongia species I have kept either.
Maybe he snagged a feeder off one of the flowers or leaves and that is all it took for him to decide he likes the taste??? LOL!! That is all I could come up with provided he is being fed enough. It surely wont hurt him.
I guess Hibiscus are tasty and Ficus are not, since they were never touched.
Cainschams, I had thought that he might have been grabbing a silkie, but my son said he was definitely chewing on the plant.
Funny thing is, I just noticed a number of holes in leaves in the other K. multi's cage, so he must find them delicious, as well.
They are definitely not underfed, so Seeco must be right about the juiciness.
Seeco and EmanSami, thanks for confirming their eating habits for me.
I'm a notorious houseplant killer, so the chams may as well enjoy eating their plants, while the plants resist my best efforts to off them!
These guys came from Seecos breeders and they are both healthy and attractive little guys!
Anyone considering a K. multi should grab one of these captive bred Kinyongia, as there are very, very few people breeding them.
