Keeping weight up.

I don't have this problem, but a friend of mine who has an ambilobe panther, about a year old, recently found out her baby has cancer, and it's already spread to the lungs. She says she'll have to put him down, she's really depressed. For now he's fine, but she said he's losing weight and if he loses too much she'll put him down. He's really an awesome chameleon, really bright colors. Is it safe for her to keep his weight up with fattier worms like wax and horn?

Sad to hear. I don't think that fatty food will increase weight that much. Usually muscles give weight, fat just gives fat and weights little until obesity kicks in. But I am not a nutritional expert, especially when it comes to cancer. I think I would rather gut load the prey with fully organic food and watch out more for the nutritional value of the feeders for now.

It really is a shame he has to go so soon. It was just one of those freak things where cancer appears, she got him from Screameleons when he was so tiny.

I still suspect that our Veiled 'Greeny' died of cancer too as he developed a lump above his nose. It's so hard. Like family.
