Keeping crickets outside

I have a big rubber made bin for my crickets with the screen top. Does anyone on here live in Southern California and keep their crickets outside? Not in the sun ofcourse... I just don't want to kill them by accident and I've read a lot about keeping crickets. I just feel like what i've been reading contradicts itself and I wanna hear it from you guys a little more. Thanks

Yeah, I keep my crickets and roaches outside because my mom hates them. I just have a cricket keeper under a patio. A little bit of the crickets dying doesn't matter really, 5% of mine die.

I keep mine in my garage. Idk about outside might attract fruit flies.

I tried keeping mine outside but I had numerous problems with ants and the crickets dying because I believe it got too cold at night (weird in SoCal, I know). I have since move both crickets and Dubia in the garage and have had much more success.

I would love to keep mine in the garage it's just, my truck is in there and I fear the fumes from the exhaust would kill them. I was planning on maybe keeping them on my balcany... I just don't know what's too cold, ya know? I don't think ants or anything would get to them since i have the screen pretty secure and what not... hmmm

The crickets would be a big draw for ants at anytime, birds and wild reptiles during the day, and night time critters like rodents, possums, skunks.

I'm not worried about drawing in other creatures... They'd have a difficult time getting into the screen. It's quite small mesh.

Is your truck running in your garage for long periods of time? With out any ventilation? Because if you just start up in the morning, and have your garage open I'm it won't affect them.

My garage is just small, and no, it doesn't run while in the garage for long periods of time. I just notice the odors and I read how sensitive crickets are so if I smell it then... won't they?
