keeping Cham in MN

Hello,

I am looking into getting a chameleon but living in MN I am not sure a all screen cage will be my best choice.

I have kept tree frogs and had a front screen and was able to keep the temp and humidity stable.

If I make a custom cage. I have heard glass isn't the best choice but what about carving a background up for the sides and having screen on top and front.

Any info would be great.

thanks

I live in Minnesota and keep both my jackson and panther in all screen enclosures. The keys to keeping humidity up, lots of live foliage :)

We converted our basement into another floor of house. It has a laundry room, bedroom, living room, and toy room. I keep my chameleons in the laundry room with the door shut at all times. I have a small space heater that keeps the ambient temp around 75 degrees until night when it is shut off. My jackson has a ultra sonic cool mist humidifier. I just covered two sides of my panthers cage, the two sides that meet to form a corner with cling wrap. A humidifier would be too much. Without live plants in their enclosures, it would be almost impossible for me to get correct humidity even with the cool mist humidifier and sides covered. When summer time rolls around they will spend the majority of time outside, but I totally understand winter time humidity issues.
