Karma's update from vet

Got the results from fecal, blood and xrays. Not good news. My Karma has MBD. Dr says the xrays show abnormalities in his toes/feet. Blood shows high levels of calcium and that the calcium / phosphorus ratio is off too. Starting oral calcium supplements but not injections yet. At this point, dr believes it will be manageable bc it is not severe. I feel AWFUL as it is totally my fault....

I'm sorry to hear that your cham was diagnosed with MBD :(
What is important is you are doing what you can to help your cham, and you are getting the help you need: this is important and good :)

MBD is typically caused by errors in husbandry. Have you identified what might have caused your particular case? How long have you had her?

Sounds like you caught it in time to manage it!
Make sure your feeding of the insects is good, the supplements are spot on and it gets proper exposure to UVB along with the liquid calcium! Proper temperatures and appropriate amount of feeding are important too.

Thanks for the update. Many people don't let us know what happens...and it's a shame because it helps us to learn more for the next person we try to help.

Good luck with th chameleon!

I've made all the changes to supplements and lighting etc. I've had karma from 2 days after he hatched in June.

Thanks to beman. I'm currently waiting for his new dragon strand and new lighting enclosure. Although his enclosure is ok now, I just want a better environment for my baby!
