just a question, i would like to know how you can tell if a female (veiled particularly) is gravid. will she display gravid colours at such young ages? ive read that veileds can become gravid as low as age 5 months. im also aware that husbandry elements can lead in not become gravid with infertile eggs. such things as (tempurature, supplimentation and feeding scheduals). i was scopin out my 7 month 8.5 month old girl this morning and seen little circles near the back of her belly, could be food from yesterday, could not. the only thing i know is that it dissapeared when she walked off and i havent seen them again. i would just like to be prepared for my girl, even though my enclosure has a good layer of substrate, i will offer a laying bin. but i would just like these questions answered. greatly appriciated

When she becomes sexually mature she will develop mustardy yellow splotches.

When she is receptive she should have bright blue/torquoise dots as well.

When she is non-receptive/gravid she will show a dark background with blue dots and bright mustard/yellow splotches...but...these non-receptive/gravid colors are not always shown. She can lose them at times...so this makes it harder to determine when she is producing eggs by the color. Other than the color, she should get broader in the lower half of the body (and even the whole body if she is producing a large clutch).

thanks kinyonga. i do know what the adult does look like gravid, receptive and non receptive. my question was though, how could you tell on a younger veiled? veileds can be sexually mature at 6 months of age, certainly they will not show these colours that young.. will they?
