Jungle dawn

It's up to you. Some people do things differently, but there's no harm in it.

I run my plant & basking lights from 6am to 6pm, but I shorten the UVB by 2 hrs., from 7am to 5pm.
The reason is that early morning and late afternoon, the Sun has much more Earth atmosphere to penetrate, which can reduce UVI to almost nothing, so why burn the most expensive bulb?

Reducing the UVB by 2 hours out of 12 will also extend the bulb life by ~2 months.

Some run their basking lights for shorter periods, but either way, IMO plant lights should run the full 12 on/12 off. If this is shortened, some "short-day" plants may be affected.
