Here is Leto, my jungle carpet python. He finally shed for the first time since I got him a couple months ago, and his colors have improved as expected. I really can't wait to see how gorgeous he's going be as an adult.

Psh, if I had the room for a nice large tank, the money for the tank and snake, and a place to get one, i'd be ALL over it! :p One day... Or you can just give me yours. Hahahahah!;)

Aww, cute :D is it aggressive? the one Ive got has never bitten anyone... and we got it about the same size as yours! awesome snakes :)

He's not aggressive although at first my kids thought so. I mean he may have tried to nip at one of them at first. I handle him a few times a week to make sure he's used to it. When I go to take him out of his cage he seems to be mad about it, but he doesn't bite at all. I'm sure he'll just get more mellow as he gets older (and more yellow). :)

She looks great Ryan! How old was she when she started showing those nice yellows? Is she pure jungle or part diamond too? Mine is just a little guy right now, and has only shed once since I got him.

She is almost 7 months now. The yellow really started to start coming through at about 4 months and just gets better every shed. You could see it coming in a little earlier. My male is a lot smaller and looks a lot like yours still. He was born around the same time. I am having fun watching it develop.

Stuart, your snake is pretty but I just cannot get past the fact that they eat little FURRY critters! I have enough problems feeding Romeo worms and such!! My neighbor was feeding his python baby rabbits and I don't talk to him anymore, so if you start feeding little Easter bunnies please don't tell me about it! I want to stay friends!!!

So far anyway, I have only fed him frozen/thawed mice, which he wraps around as if they're still alive when he eats them. I'll switch him to rats at some point, but he shouldn't get large enough for rabbits. I wouldn't really want a snake that gets that big! His max size should be something on the order of 5.5 to 6 feet.

You want to switch to rat pinks ASAP. I cannot stress that enough. If you don't start really soon you will be feeding a 6ft snake mice. Or you will have to rub mouse pee on everything he eats when he is older.

My JCP's have never eaten a mouse. They were started on new born rat pinks.

Yes, I've heard this from others as well. Unfortunately I believe I bought 50 or so fuzzy mice instead of fuzzy rats. For his next feeding I think I'll try a pinky rat as you suggest and see if he'll eat it. If he eats the rat, and then I go back to the mice, do you think he'll go back to rats when he gets larger?

I have heard once once you get them to eat Rats don't even let them smell a mouse. Once you make the move to Rats don't go back. I would just keep feeding him the mice for now. Then when you are ready to switch permenently use rats.

This thread makes me miss the carpet pair i had :(

once any snake is on rats never let it smell/see/think of mice. I had a friend with a 4ft retic not be able to get small rats so he got 4 HUGE HUGE mice to feed and it was game over from then on.

think feeding a 6ft snake mice gets expensive, try feeding an 8ft retic mice/gerbils.
