Jax with a sore and weeping mouth

Hi everyone, we are pretty new to Jax and have had one for 6 months or so and he has always been happy and healthy. He has developed a sore near the base of his tail that came up pretty quickly and tonight we noticed a possible sore in his mouth that sounds like the gland problem we read about in a previous thread. Details:

1 About year old
2. Large mesh cage
3. UVB bulb
4. Pretty warm room as it houses our other lizards (beardie, Iguana and Frilled)
5. Crickets and meal worm diet
6 Calcium dust on food
7 we were not misting as often as we should have as we learned from this forum and have corrected that!
8 his grip is still very good
9 not eating much
10. he is pooping

Don't know if we can get to a vet before monday but we will try.

Along with the other issues his head is pointed up in every picture. Im not sure if it is because of infection that is draining or if he has a RI at this point.

This is in no way a treatment for your fella. This is just to help in the time between now and a vet.

If you animals was mine. I would get a childs wash cloth (may have tp cut it depending on what size you use.. They are thinner than adults. I would pre moisten it and wring it out completely. You may need a popcicle stick also turned vertical in the mouth to help keep it open and try to get as much of the excess drainage he has in the mouth out. I would then take a second cloth and some prodovone iodine mix with water to a mild tea solution. Completely submerge another clean childs cloth and wring it out just a little leaving it a tad wet. Clean the wound.. You could also point his had to the ground and take a syringe and flush the wound a little but with him possibly having a RI im sure it is hard to breathe with the head point to the floor. Be the best judge but in any case your guy needs to see a good reptile vet ASAP.

Oh my gosh, I have never seen a tail base look so swollen. It is not an open sore, it looks like some type of infection brewing within. Please let us know what the vet says so we can educate ourselves about this condition. Poor fella. I hope the vet can get him squared away.

Doing better

We misted him pretty well in the mouth and he looks and acts as if he feels better. No gasping at all. Found a vet that works with exotics just 45 minutes from home and they are open Saturday so we will visit them tomorrow AM. We will let you know what he or she says.
