Jacksoni in Maui

So, I have a business trip that is taking me to Maui tomorrow. I figured, while I was there, I might as well go try and find some C. j. xantholophus.

Does anyone here have pointers for where to go on the island for successful viewing?

If I find any, I will definitely post the pics!

Thanks guys!

Upcountry on the flanks of Haleakala mountain, there's a botanical. Garden/ park you can walk through for a nominal fee, I saw quite a few there and you don't have to trespass on private land.
It really is called upcountry, only 15-20 minutes from the airport . Route 37

Awesome Bob! Thanks for the info.

Although I am a little disappointed it doesn't require trespassing!!

Any chance if you do spot some to get video as well? It's just something about seeing them in nature moving around that is so satisfying.

Will do!

I'm going to have a three day period between my meetings where there is nothing scheduled, so I should have plenty of time to go herping!

There's plenty of private property all around the park/gardens to trespass on. But if you really feel adventurous grab a flashlight and go looking
on private property at night, you'll see plenty of jacksons and some irate natives as well!!

I was on my honeymoon there in 1990 , saw a few at the Haleakala park also . We had a Mustang convertible that we took on all the dirt roads. You might also be able to see some migrating whales. How fun, post a few pics when you get back . Have a great time

That's what I'm talking about Bob!

I'll pack a flashlight!!

Hopefully I won't run in to any irate natives!
