Jackson opening his mouth?

Hi all,

I walk in my room from time to time only to see him sitting in his enclosure with his mouth open. He is about 7-8 months old and is pretty healthy from what I can tell... Afterwards, I approach him and he closes his mouth. What can this be because of? Is this a sign of something?

Thanks

could also be a sign of a respiratory infection. Can you hear any type of a wheezing or popping noise when he breathes? Any extra saliva in his mouth? He is holding his head up in the air also while his mouth is open?

85 to 90.i think the basking light may be too strong at times considering it gets hot where i live.

But here is my question. 70's is pretty much room temperature for me. Do i even need a basking light at this point ?

Imo yes they should have a small basking spot that is 80maybe 82-83 tops. Some members angle the lamp toward the outside of the cage. I just use a 60 watt regular bulb, slightly angled toward the underside of the uvb. That way he basks, and gets his uvb at the same time.

i just got my male jackson yesterday he is about 5-7 inches seems heathly, ate well today but he tends to open his mouth from time to time as well...i dont think the temp is bad, i have the UVB light good humidity and a heat lamp on but its been off since he started this morning but it seems awfully cold so i turned it back on, please help!

What are the temps? What do you measure them with?
