Hi all i am new to this site! just looking for advice i have a yeman cham and i have just bought a repti breeze mesh enclosure (3' high one) to buy a jackson cham i am doing a lot of reasearch about them before i decide that a jackson is for me and as they live in kenya 6000 to 8000 feet up and like it quite humid i was wondering if a dripper and spraying twice a day would be enough if i buy a fogger the bulbs will be blowing? If you have a jackson cham can you post pic's of your set ups please or let me know what you do also my local rep shop say they are very hard to keep alive is this true? sorry for all the questions just think its sometimes best to get advice from jackson keepers instead of roomers. Thanks Stuart.

well, you came to the right place ;) jackson's are not hard to keep if everything is done right to begin with and you start with an older one (5 months prob) before you keep a baby. it is true that jackson babies ARE hard to keep, as they have a tendancy to die for no reason, but after 3 or 4 months, they are pretty stable. heres a pic of my current setup:

and yea, my cham is in there, top right corner of red crate ;) but anyways to summarize things, at least 18x18x36 sized cage, a repti-glo or repti-sun 5.0 uvb bulb on top along with a basking light (which is a common housebulb, usually 60 watts) to achieve a basking area of around 80 and no more than 85 degrees. personally i mist 3 times a day and the humidity should be between 50 and 80 and i have a homemade dripper from a gallon ice tea jug going on all day :p 12 on 12 off light cycle and they are best kept healthy by gutloading your feeders with calcium rich food (ask around cuz there are some great foods that are high in calcium, but arent good for the cham llike spinach). and minimum supplementation :)

Hey Stuart.
Welcome to CF!
You have definitely come to the right places for info.

Jacksons need a cool humid enviroment.
They like it really wet, and you will need to mist them more than 2 times a day to keep them healthy IMO.

It goes over the care for a jackson and every bit of it is great advice.
