although they were not introduced properly, when i met the couple who wanted to breed their female to my linus (we had brought our chameleons to our meeting to check their health and capadability) linus took a great liking to her and tried to mate. although she was receptive to the male they had at home, he was terrified of her and would not breed. but when linus tried to breed, she turned all black, and would not let him. is this normal? would it change if they were in the females cage instead of a public place?

my male is like their male. sees the female and runs. eventhough they were housed together at the breeders house. I think he got spoiled by his own cage

my male also has a great liking to my female. unfortunately, she is either gravid or just acting like it and also turns black and gapes when she sees him ....

Is it possible their female was with a male and bred already?

no..she has only been with the their male under supervision, and although she likes him, he is terrified and refuses to breed with her..she has been with no other males and they got her when she was young :/

Amanda, who knows what secrets the female chameleon holds in her little three-chambered heart? But seriously, Linus has to work at it over a period of time when she's ready--it's not a one time thing either. There is alot of visual displaying and who-knows-what as signaling during the mating dance. Even the actual successful act of mating seems like reluctance or practical rape on the part of the female, who never does seem comfortable. You will scream in horror the first time you see Linus' hemipenes extended, so just put them alone together for an hour or two at a time, then give the girl a rest. Hopefully you can produce a litter and never have to see the male's science-fiction-worthy "apparatus". Yuck. You'll never pick him up again after seeing what he carries hidden underneath.

hahaha, poor linus...i dont care what his junk looks like, and i wont even get to watch because he will be sent to the females house -.- but at least knowing his roughness wasnt abnormal helps..i didnt expect him to even get that far on the first meeting
