Izzy @ 10 mo: How does he look?

I was wondering if his legs are normal or there is any MBD sign...

I think I am just being paranoid by reading other posts, so I thought I would ask the ones that have more experience what is normal.

This is my first chameleon ever.

Thanks!!

To me he doesn't appear to have any bendy or rubbery joints. So far so good. What kind of supplement regiment have you been using?
The photo looks like you are using a sand or bark substrate, no substrate is most often recommended. What is Izzy's enclosure like???

Thanks for responding! I didn't think either. They look big and I just wanted to check.

The background you see is just coconut fibers that are silicone-glued to the the walls. You know. those blocks that you put in the water, dry them out, and then glue.

You can see some pics in my gallery.

As far as supplement, (I got him when he was 1 mo old), I have been given Ca 3X week, Ca+D3 2X week, 1X month herptivite, 1X month MinerAll (I).

Since he turend 9 month (now he is 10),I have been using the one on the attached calendar. What do you think?

Once again, THANKS SO MUCH for taking your time!!!!

Thanks for identifying the background ;) I looked at your pictures, your cage looks REALLY nice. I assume you have added more greenery since? Live plants are always best. I've seen other members using rope successfully in there cages, but have heard of the possibility of nails getting caught in it....but I assume this easily happens as well in the screen.
Your supplementation calender looks good, and it seems like he should be right on track! I use a magnetic, dry erase calender to keep up with medication administration as well as supplementation schedules.

What kind of UV fixture are you using? The coloring on his back looks a little weird. Please fill out the How to ask for help stickie please.

Bocajan,

Here you go:

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 34x34X48, wood construction with aluminum screen.

Lighting - 2 basking spots up on top + 18" Reptisun 5.0; on from 7:00AM until 7:00PM.

Temperature - Basking spots are at 85/90F. Don't know at the floor (I will check). Overnight lowest is 70/74F. And it is being checked with digital thermometers

Humidity - Humidity is around 40/45 % but it goes up when automatic misting system is on. It runs for 10 mins in the morning (7:00AM) and 15 mins in the afternoon (2:00PM). Using digital humidity meter.

Plants - Umbrella tree and Photos.

Location - The cage is on a corner so there is no traffic. It is near a North facing window. The cage is 48" tall and it sits on top of a 26" base.

Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - Veiled, male, 10 months old, and I got him since he was 1 month old.

Handling - Sometimes on the weekend I take him outside. I just started giving him "showers" (on the weekends only). Not handled very much. I can remove two screened sides of my cage so he doesn't feel locked up, and I don't need to harass him out of the cage.

Feeding - I feed him crickets, silkworms, hornworms. Crickets is the staple. Silkworkms 2 every other day or so. I was feeding 10 or so crickets everyday but now he is slowing down so I am still figuring out the new schedule. I gut load the crickets with "roach" food from Coastal Silkworms plus carrots, letuce, cucumbers.

Supplements - Repti Cal and Miner All. See schedule on previous post. Also Herpitivite.

Watering - I use herpmisting system. See schedule mentioned above. Also started with some 20 min "hot showers" here and there. I have NEVER seen him drink.

Fecal Description - Never tested for parasites. Poop has the brown matter that is solid, and the white with some yellow that is more moist. It doesn't taste good.

History - Always active by moving around in the cage quite a bit. Does not climb on the screen. Comes towards me to beg for food - Almost shot at my nose! No, I don't have a big nose.

Current Problem - Everything looks as good as it can be. Since this is my first reptile (other than box turtle years ago), so I wanted to make sure his chubby legs are just that, chubby, and not MBD....

Thanks for reading all of this!!!! Please let me know if I should change any habbits...

Take care.

Wasn't sure so I thought I'd ask. The coloring is something I haven't seen before. It is sure unusual and really great looking.

Thanks guys! I am glad to hear (read!) that he is good and I am in the correct track.

This forum is VERY VERY informative with LOTS of nice people willing to help out.

The color could have been just the point-and-shoot camera without flash plus the lighting in the cage...

You can see another one in my gallery...

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Roberto.

I thought I would bring this thread back up... Now, eight months later he comes up with this.

He got moved from his first small cage when he was 5 months.

More and more I think the UVB wasn't hitting him...

On a cage that size I would have a double 24 inch UVB light. I've been reading your other thread and hope your little guy will pull through. Jann
