Isn't Eating.

My 5 month old veiled isn't eating! She's on medications right now and I feel that may be part of it. She's getting over a RI. Should I have my vet do a fecal test to be sure? I know it's a good idea with new chams in general. And haven't done so yet. Or should I wait until her RI symptoms completely clear up before bringing her back to the vet?

You don't have to bring her into the vet for a fecal. If she happens to defecate, just pick up the fresh sample and put it in a Ziploc bag. If you can't take it immediately to the vet, put it in your fridge. I wouldn't stress her out by taking her to the vet right now. As far as her eating is concerned, medications can have this affect. I would be focused more on keeping her hydrated through this period. What medication is she on, and what regimen?

I will do that. I'm getting a compound microscope soon so I can do my own. She's getting 0.01 mL of Ceftazidime through injection in her forearm every 48 hours. She has 4 more injections to go.

Good. I really do like the Ceftazidime because I feel like there are no mistakes with dosing since it is an injectable and you don't have to fight them like you do with an oral treatment. This does affect their appetite though, so hopefully this round will take care of the RI and her appetite will bounce back. Keep us posted!

No doubt it's easy to give them! Especially being there's two of us doing it. She did bite me today however, it's gotta burn while being injected. Will she be ok if she doesn't eat the entire time??

It's not unheard of. Did your Vet give you any supplements to give her while she was being medicated. When I was having to dose one of my Melleri heavily, he refused to eat also. But, my vet gave me a formula of sorts that really helped give him some nutrients and energy while he was in this state. I can't for the life of me remember the name of that formula, but it would be worth contacting your vet and explaining the situation to see if something similar is recommended.

Unfortunately they did not. All they suggested immediately was to bring her in and that they'd keep her over night. I didn't feel that'd be a great idea. They claim to have chameleon experience, which I believe, but just from some of the things they say and suggest, I get a feeling they aren't as educated on them as they come off.
