When I open cage door and go to put my hand in my female veiled comes rushing down to be held but when anyone else goes near the cage she gets spotty and puffs up bigtime?? I feed her well.

I think she probably has gained your trust and recognizes you and therefore she is not afraid of you like she might be of someone else. I for one believe chameleons definitely know who their keepers are. Don't know if anyone else agrees, but just going by what I see my chameleon exhibit with other people versus myself.

How long did it take for your chameleon to get like that? I'm really wanting mine to, but it's only been a month that I've had mine.

Mine doesn't mind other people as long as they don't make sudden movements, but he obviously prefers to climb on me and is not too big on anyone else reaching inside the cage. I've had him about three months.

Spinach should be used sparingly because it binds calcium so it can't be used.
You can offer her dandelion greens, kale, collards, endive, escarole, mustard greens, carrot, squash, sweet red peppers, sweet potato, zucchini and a little bit of apple, pear, melon, berries. The veggies and fruits like apple, pear or melon should be cut into slivers or diced small enough for the chameleon to eat.

She probably was hungry and came rushing to the door for food. My ambilobe does it all the time.

My veiled of 3 years has a similar reaction with me. Since i got him, i as the only one to feed, water, and handle him. Thus, he only seems to trust me and walks onto my hand without difficulties. However, whenever one of my family tries, he will puff up and his. I definitely think they recognize their handlers.

it is because of this theory that since i got my Ambilobe, i've made an appoint to have my family handle him every so often as well. I know panthers are known to be more aggressive than other types, but my Ambilobe has never hissed or anything at any strangers. He's far more friendly then my Veiled.

i think she is dieing
That comment is insensitive and totally unwarranted. When your chameleon is sick, that is the last comment you need, even when you know deep down that it is probably true. Trust me, I've been there. Really not nice.:(

Is she trying to get out when she can't see you? My female is doing the same thing at the moment and it's not like her. I think mine is actually receptive and has been for the last week now. My first female would act the same and the behaviour was more prominent at times when she was receptive or near to laying a clutch. When you say she is well fed, how much do you feed her? She's an adult female isn't she, if I remember? Mine would eat all day long if I let her and she nearly falls off her branch when she sees the food tub coming her way! She is not hungry - just a typically greedy female!

:)

She isn't unwell, she is roughly 2 years old and I seriously reckon she just likes attention and that I'm friendly towards her, I feed her about 5 to 6 crickets a day and she has the option of eating hibiscus and dandelion leaves swell as sliced carrot 24/7 fresh!!! She hasn't been eating much last 3 days but is content, she has a big egg laying bin.

I would actually cut back on feeding to prevent egg laying. Maybe 5-6 crickets three or four times a week.
