k I have some tek t5 8 bulb ballasts that have extremely high lumens output to watt ratio

I don't think would need more than a few bulbs in this beast and certainly at least 6 inches off the top of the cage because it does produce a very very small amount of heat

they sell reptile bulbs in this size as well, I'm just thinking you wouldn't need to use more than 2 and the other two you could use regular bulbs

my question comes, do I want to use the cool sprectrum as my 2nds

or my warm spectrum, warm sprectrum sounds best to me , what do you guys think, esp cuz there is a lot of blue coming out of these reptile bulbs....let me know what you guys think

I got this fixture on craigslist for 200, they are 550 in stores

not much more than standard shoplite when only using a few bulbs

i guess i'm going to be using it to benefit both, i figure there is much more light in an area outsider than inside

so a little extra light can't hurt, its not like i'm going to be using all 8 bulb lol

i probably may trade this fixture in for a few 2 light fixtures, that would be the business

these lights are really nice from what i can tell, i guess i'll just have to see by mounting it above the cage what its going to be like

and if not i'll take it down and make a sick indoor garden and order tropical clones and start my own mini nursery of exotic plants like birds of paradise, and plumaria, and maybe every some small palm clones!!!!

i know, if you read up above I said I was going to try to trade it into the hydro store, but this light also has other applications which blow the two light fixtures away, and they have multiple switches that turn half and half off

but you are right, but at this price i couldn't turn it down

the more i think about it though, if two shoplites are good why on earth would you need 4 t5's?

2 would be perfect

That thing would be great over two 24x24x48 cages. T5s are the best route, even better than mH, unless you need deep water penetration.

T-5's are compact florescents just like coil bulbs everyone hates on here. I don't remember the company who makes the T-5 bulbs but you may want to look into if they're safe.

I like to have a mix of blue-er and warmer bulbs. I think it simulates the sunlight where I live better than just the typical 6500k daylight bulbs. If I could just use one type of bulb it would be what is reffered to as "natural sunshine" wigh is in the 5000k range. Or if you already have the bulbs I would use warm spectrum.

Anyway, cool light fixture!
