Is there any way to estimate the age of my cham?

When I got him from a seller about a month ago he said he was *around* 9 months old.. in other words he had no clue and was guessing.

My veiled really isn't that big, I figured since the other chams I've seen at 1 year old were MUCH bigger.. I will be posting pictures of him momentarily.

Take a picture of his body. Like an eye level picture. This will show others what his Casque looks like, or coloration. Younger would have less coloration than older ones, obviously, but this can kind of show along the lines of his age. But, it won't be exactly correct, just an educated guess. From the pictures you have, he looks about 7-8 Months old. Maybe he is a year, but the older keeper didn't give him good nutrition.

The older keeper was nursing him back to health and then reselling him. I guess he's a rescue. When I bought him he had calcium buildup on his skin, but since shedding (as you can see in the picture) he has lost it, and is a lot healthier.

This is the best picture I can get of him, he's almost done shedding so he's a bit crabby.

I would have to guess 5 months.

Here is 6 month old (granted they are large)...

Thank you Sang, and Wow Julirs! Cute chams. :D

Haha thanks for the quarter reference. That was all I could find that anyone would have - couldn't find a ruler! lmao!!

Size is a hard way to guage age. You find 2 year old Veileds out there the size of 5 month olds. It is really easy to stunt their growth if they are not treated right, fed right, have MBD, etc...
