Is moss safe?

I have a male veiled chameleon who is almost 1 year old.
I have him in a large bird cage, that is totally safe with the right temp and fairly right humidity I made sure that he can not get out of the bars of the tank, But i was just wondering if it is safe for me to plant live moss in his tank to hold more humitity and add more greens make it more ``Rain forest`` like.

What do you mean by plant? Put it in pots or at the bottom of the cage like substrate?

Live moss is good for moisture but it has lots of downsides, Bacteria being number one in my opinion. Also your veiled may get some with his food or even go down and try to bite a piece, which then could get stuck and cause blockage. I like not using moss, if you wanted a live tree or plant they love ficus so i'd do that.
