Is it safe?

Ahh nice choice. I just spray them down to get the dust off the plant. I don't have a green thumb so I don't know the proper way. That's just my way. =P

If it wasnt in organic soil already you need to also repot it in organic soil so if you chams does,by chance ,gets a bit of it in its tummy it wont hurt her/him.

be very careful though cause most stores use topical pesticides and fertilizer. take some water a light soap. put the plant on its side and wash the leaves off a ciuple times. and re pot the plant with organic potting soil. after i washed the plant with the soapy water a couple times i left it outside for two days and watered in every day by spraying it dwn very well just to make sure.

In theory, you should repot it in organic soil with no fertilizers or other additives. You'd do that by taking it out of the pot and washing down the roots to remove as much of the existing soil as possible, washing the pot and returning the plant to it with the cool clean soil.

This is because virtually any potted plant you buy is in soil that has fertilizer and possibly even pesticides in it. Some chameleons will eat the soil from the plants. If it's full of toxins, that's not a good thing.

Many people suggest covering the top soil with fairly good size rocks (too big for your chameleon to swallow) to prevent it from eating the soil.
