Is it normal for some eggs to look more developed than others?

I have about 20 eggs that my chameleon laid back in June, they'll be 8 months old in the beginning of Feb. When lit with my flashlight I notice a few have a round area (I'm guessing it's the baby chameleons head or something? ) and then a flat area, some have a little small line of darkness at the bottom and most eggs have even less of a flat darkness at the bottom, some I barely see anything in the egg at all. Does this mean I only have a few that may hatch?



Also any clue how much longer they have?

Stop doing that. And be patient.

Candling can be difficult, even for the experienced. I candled some veils in early December as they were starting to run a little later than usual. I couldn't really make too much out. Two weeks later, 30 bouncing babies. Like MF says, be patient. A watched pot, never boils.

Make sure your light bulb is a cool light--you can kill embryos from a hot bulb.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. It's hard to not check on them. I've been doing it a lot lately. I'll try to refrain! As long as I know they're OK.

There have been reports of premature hatching when the eggs are exposed to bright light. These new LED flashlights are extremely bright. I wouldn't chance it, especially this late in incubation.
