Too vague, but "now he is constantly at the bottom of the cage, and sometimes laying on his side." should have rung alarm bells here! A chameleon laying on its side anywhere is an unnatural posture, they just dont! except as a defence mode after dropping from a perch and playing dead to avoid a predator (in this case, probably you).
The gaping could be related to same stress, or it could be related to heat stress, or it could be because its shedding, my money is on stress! 'constantly at the bottom of the cage' may be because its trying to stay cool, or because the densest plants are at the bottom (trying to hide), or because the bottom is more humid.
check its enviroment, and because your post is too vague, please fill out Julirs huge questionaire that he/she posts everytime a vague question without background or useful information is posted, and someone may be able to get a better idea.
If he is in the plants when I spray him, sometimes he falls.
Well duh!!! dont do it! Didnt that occure to you after the first incident? It dosent like it!!
You will cause your cham injury or broken limbs if by some miracle you havent already.
You DONT HAVE TO MIST THE CHAM ITSELF, mist the leaves in its enclosure so they bead up to provide humidity and drinking water and better, setup a dripper aswell.
At two months theres a reasonable chance its shedding or about to but you need to more clearly explain the other behaviour, when it occurs, (what triggers it) and describe its enviroment ok.
It may be nothing more than a particularly 'touchy' chameleon, uopset by your presence or some simple adjustments needed to its enviroment and your husbandry, or both. more info is needed.
