I am very excited to get back into a hobby that changed my life as a youth! This Forum looks to be a great source of Current Chameleon Info! If you are reading this... LOL my history with Chameleons is a bit out of the ordinary.... I apprenticed under Ken Kalisch back close to 20 years ago and recall the start of the C.I.N. I had an extensive collection of chameleons! My biggest success was Veil's, Panthers, Jackson's and Quad's... My biggest failure was Parsoni having 3 males and 2 females and never getting eggs after 3 years of trying with them.... To make a long story short i got out of this hobby to pursue rare mastiff and now it has come full circle for me in my life to pursue the Chameleon once again! My name is Mike Druker with Pacifica Cane Corso (www.pacificacanecorso.com) I look to this Forum for new info and ideas for better success, with so much new information on Husbandry and egg incubation I am VERY excited to start up again! I know alot of old knowledge and beliefs of Husbandry and hope to add this because a lot of my foundation with these animals is very correct. Welcome back to the darkside. Are you ready to relapse into the ADDICTION again? Hope for all the best for you. What type of cham will you start with again? I am a current Quad lover.

I also have the feeling you like "large" pets. I used to own an English Mastiff.

I'm really not sure.... this forum and recent research i've done has blown my mind of what was kinda of a simple hobby and me being on the "cutting edge" has become now!!!!! My Favorites where for sure Parsoni, Quads and Panthers in that order... I had the coolest Nosy b Male, he had such an unusual personality.... The Parsons just incredible, i had 3 10' long by 7' tall and 3' deep enclosures with mist systems (lived in Del Mar @ the time, 6 houses from the beach perfect for them almost all year) They were like sloth Dinosaurs. and back to the Quads.... They where just so cool because of the sailfin, they HATED to be handled, they are really easy and thrived on personal space and tons of water! I really can't believe all the enthusiast now, it's incredible... They are incredible animals, the way I have described them since i was 14 is that they are fish in trees.... I like a challenge so i'm really not sure, going to work on some setups here for the next few weeks and see.... Cheers, Md

Hi Mike, glad to have you join us. You learned from Ken? That should have gotten you started well. Did it shock you to see that parsons sell for $2500 to $4000 now? But hey you and I can be great friends - you used the magic word - I love quads. I have a w/c male who has a large bedroom for his free range. My others live in cages, but he was w/c and did not seen able to be in a cage, so we had him a miniature forest. He seems very happy there. Sometimes the only time I see him is if I go in with food. He doesn't want touched or even looked at unless there is food.He hands feeds at his choice. I can't free range his food in a room that is 14 x 18 but he would not accept any feeder system I tried. He will run out of the trees or down from the ceiling to eat out of my hand. I love lenny to bits. I ok I have rattled on about Lenny, so now I will wait to hear what you decide to do this time.

Thanks so much for these posts! Yes @ Luarie, I had a great start into this, I even went to a seminar from Phillipe de Vosjolie talking about our addiction here LOL! Your Quad sounds just like my w/c boy! he was nuts when he saw the food bowl, practically jump down the tree, just catching his tail on branches. Other than that he wanted you to think he wasn't there, he was a madman and hated even his huge outdoor cage! The Parsons I bought for 150,200.. I sold them for 400, I am again blown away @ 2500 and up... I just could never get them to breed, i hope if i ever get back into them there is greater knowledge of why i was failing with them.... My male panther was something out of a cartoon, he had free run of my room with a branch going over my reeftank so he could bask under the 175 halides. He was the only Chameleon that actually liked attention sometime, I know weird but he would actually go up on his back legs to get to me sometimes from a branch, i don't know if he was right in the head, he was captive born and would never breed with any of the 5 ladies i had for him.... All the Caluptratus I had wanted to take fingers off.... LOL
Back @ Laurie and Panther Envy to the quads, do both of you have breeding colonies? Do you see the C/B males really "calming down"?
@ Son Tiger I exploded with A.D.D. with the CC's... getting another great start in the breed from bloodlines overseas and becoming addicted to Dog Shows! LOL
