Introducing myself (and my Bames!)

Hello!

I hope this is the correct thread to post introductions. My name is Starry aka Nicole, and I am a mom to an adorable veiled named Bames (pronounced "James" but with a B), as well as a super cute beardie named Boop.

I am from Alberta, Canada and I am studying my fifth year of my BsC specializing in immunology and infection (ie. infectious diseases and how the immune system works). I am an avid animal lover, and have adored creatures of all sorts since I have been young! When I was a kid, I was always catching bugs and frogs. I'd kiss the frogs I caught, not even because I wanted them to become a prince, but just simply because I liked to kiss frogs. I also remember catching tiger salamanders in my grandparents pond at their farm!

I currently (and have always been) am so in love with chameleons. I actually had a family of Ty plushie chameleons when I was a child and they came EVERYWHERE with me. Now I have a real life ball of sass. I bought Bames almost a year ago when he was fresh out of the egg. Just a disclaimer, I know it's not necessarily the best idea to sell chameleons that young to new owners, but I did SO much research before I purchased Bames and absolutely got the sweetest vibes from this breeder. He let me, a random girl from Kijiji, sit on his floor for at least an hour just holding all thirty of his baby chameleons and trying to sex them, because he had just taught me how and I wanted to be confident in my ability to tell males and females apart. He had a crazy collection of reptiles and even showed me around, told me all of their scientific names and common names, where they were from, and even let me hold them! For me, that was such a display of being genuine, as he could tell how passionate I was about animals right off the bat.

Fast forward, almost a year later... now Bames is big and sassy, but everyone loves him. I have spent countless hours holding him and socializing him so when he grew up he wouldn't stress as easily around people or being held. All my friends love him and if they've interacted with another chameleon, they say he's the sweetest one they've met. Bames has never hissed at me or tried to bite. He has hissed at Boop once though... he then ran at him, headbutted him, and fell off my arm... needless to say those two stay away from each other haha. Other than that, he's the sweetest boy. He sits with me while I study, hangs out with friends when they're over, and even lets me kiss his lil snoot (he doesn't even close his eyes to block me out)! I lvoe Bames so much... he's my most important little geck and I wouldn't trade him for the world!

That being said, though, I am now looking into getting a breeding pair of pygmy chameleons and breeding them! However, I live in Canada and many pygmies are CITES now, so it is very hard to me to find them. However, I 110% plan to find and breed them!

Anyways, that's all for now. I'm excited to meet more reptile lovers here. <3

In case you have Instagram, I occasionally post my lizards on my Instagram (www.instagram.com/starry_suicide)! Though please be warned, I am a SuicideGirl (a nude alt model), so I do post other things some would consider explicit!
