Hey everybody,

I would like to introduce Rapture. He is my new Ambilobe Panther from Lance. His sire is Taz. He just turned 5 months old and is a big boy. He has been with me since Thursday and is doing very well. Not eating very much quite yet but is drinking ALOT!! Loves to roam around his cage and bask in the sun. Enjoy a few pictures of him. He also started shedding within a couple of hours of arriving, so you will see that in the photos, today he is almost done, has a few flakes left! Love watching him peel it off as it irritates him!!

Take Care,
Erica

P.S. So grossed out by the 20 gallon container full of 200 lobster roaches I have, not sure if I can keep those suckers they are nasty looking! I will take the 500 crickets any day over them!

He's a beautiful little guy; sure he'll be a real looker in a year or so :). Also are you grossed out by roaches in general or the Lobsters specifically? I really don't like how they look either and if you wanted you could try Dubias or Discoids (lot less nasty looking IMO).

You know I just think roaches in general are gross. I don't like bugs at all and am fully arachnaphobic. We have ALOT of cockroaches in southern utah, they are just plentiful here and I have gotten used to seeing them, but not in my house. I spray to keep them away from the inside. I am thankful that my fiance is willing to feed him the roaches cause I won't do it at all. I am putting them outside once its not getting into the 40's at night, but if they die off or run out I am done with them, I won't order them again unless he really likes them and goes through them quickly. I think the quantity might be the problem too, if there were only like 40 I could be more ok with it but 150-200 is too much for one little lizard! I can handle crickets and all the different kids of worms. I am such a girl I guess. i can deal with all kids of nasty things in the health field but bugs are so gross!!

Haha I understand :p. Just FYI if you can go with roaches it is a much better choice than crickets in my opinion. Feeder roaches don't acquire a nasty smell like crickets do and I think specific feeder roaches are much easier to breed and maintain than crickets. Unless you just plan on buying him food everytime he runs out instead of trying to breed any of your feeders, which is completely fine but it can be significantly cheaper in most cases in the long run if you try to breed your feeders.

We have tons of crickets and roaches and I dont see either dying off anytime soon, so looks like we will be stuck with both for awhile. I had my fiance clean out the bins and it smelled ALOT better. I think whatever they packed them in had a nasty smell because now that its gone, they don't smell anymore. And clean water and fruits and veggies being changed everyday helps alot with the smell. I got my first pooh from him and I am impressed with the size, my little veiled did about a quarter of the size of his. Wow!

Anyway I let Rap outside today because it was high 60's and no wind and it felt gorgeous. He enjoyed basking in the sun in his outdoor enclosure! I enjoyed sitting out next to him reading too!!

Beautiful Guy you have there! Only 5 months old!?! wow.

I would say stick with the roaches over crickets. Or better yet. Feed both, Chameleons love variety!
