You probably saw that post recently about a cham that they thought was a male and then one day she just dropped her eggs on the bottom of the viv?
crazy! And I'm over here stressing about the proper mineral content of the laybin, whether the laybin has the correct moisture and taking more pics of poop then I should

Yeah I did see that post, it concerns me that they knew so little about their cham. ... you'd think I'd be better at this - I had both of my kiddos at home with a midwife. This should be a piece of cake

Thanks, but I certainly had no idea what I was in for. I should have done the work BEFORE taking one home, I'm such a dummy. But if I hadn't, who knows what would have become of her. Ugh, who knows... I really don't understand how these creatures can be legally sold at a PetCo or Petsmart

The funny thing is most females start digging test holes before they are ready to lay. When they start refusing food but show no interest in digging in at most 48 hours is when I start worrying something is wrong with the lay bin as long as the female is showing no signs of stress otherwise. Otherwise provide her with what she needs and she'll get it done

I decided that she was just not interested in the sand laybin I gave her. So, I took out the sand and replaced it with approx. 80/20 peat moss/sand mix. Because I was so sure that the sand would be fine, I put the laybin at the bottom in such a way that I could not easily bring the bucket out. I have a wood branch set into one corner then connected to other branches and vines for stability. I would have had to undo the entire viv to get it out. Not to mention... wet sand is freakishly heavy. I couldn't lift it out anyway. So, I scooped out the sand... one cup at a time. So much fun. Then I put in the peat moss... 8 scoops peat moss then 2 scoops sand, add water as necessary, mix and repeat. I was hoping that I could get it done quickly because I didn't want to stress Ophelia out (not that much really bothers her, but still wanted to make it quick). I was thinking that she would huff and puff a little, or move to the farthest corner, or give me "that" look... like how dare I enter her space... or all of the above. But this silly girl actually came in close to oversee the project. She was a bright green, very curious and didn't mind that I kept bumping her branch. My daughter video'd some of it because she was so cute. Or maybe I've got it all wrong... you tell me
