Incubator

I was wanting to know what everyone uses as far as an incubator goes? My female ambilobe is gravid again but this time with fertile eggs. We do not have an incubator nor do we have a room with a controlled temperature so I would like to get an incubator. Can anyone recommend me one and possibly a site where I could buy one? Thanks :)

I'm currently using a Hovobator (the styrofoam ones) - they're fairly inexpensive, but the temperature control is crude. You just turn a knob to "increase" or "decrease" temps so you'll need to monitor for a while with a thermometer (doesn't come with one) before adding eggs to make sure you are at the right temp (mine was steady for a few hours and then about 12 hours later was about 5 degrees more than I wanted). And when it does maintain the temps you want, it's not completely steady. Depending on outside temps of the room it's in it will fluctuate within about a 4 degree range from what I've seen so far. That kind of change isn't a big deal for me but if you have eggs needing more control you may need a better incubator.

This is not necessarily a product endorsement, just a review so you can make an educated decision about your purchase. :)

Okay yeah I have been told about this one too.. is there another one out there that you have heard of that has more temp control? Money really isn't the issue

Fancier Models

I have tried the exo terra and the other one just like it. They were nice when they would heat and cool, but on both, within a year the cooling system broke so now they only heat.

so it was a 100+ dollars on both down the drain. I just use them now to hatch out silks and cricket eggs.

I use the closet method now... But sadly the eggs are taking much, much longer to hatch.

With my climate and house temperature, I need a incubator that heats and cools. I have tried some of the ones mentioned above with disastrous results.
I searched and found this one. I have had it for a year now and works perfectly.

Reading the description of this incubator,it says to chameleon breeders that by controlling the temperature, you can influence the clutch to be males or females. I've never heard of this.

Well we were looking at the Avey but are still wanting to see more options.. everyone keeps telling me to go with the hovabator and am kind of leaning towards that now too. Betty is getting fatter by the day!
