I am planning on getting a chameleon yemen and have been told a 45x45x60 exo terra is plenty but doesnt feel like it to me and said I could use heat mat instead of ceramic heater. Just like some advice on this please.

The bigger the better. All screen cage is best if you can get a hold of one. They are also cheaper than glass terrariums.

As for the heat mat, do not use one. Chameleons naturally move to light in order to get their warmth. You need a light bulb above the cage shining down on your Cham.

Here is a care sheet for you to read. It will tell you everything you need to keep your Veild healthy. As stated, no heat mat or ceramic heater during the day. They need a basking light for heat. A ceramic heater can be used at night if your temps are going to get really cold(below 50). No lights at night. It disrupts their sleep cycle.

I am looking to get two chameleons I know they need to be separated but could I buy a 4ft wide vivarium and but a wooden divider in the middle so they could never see each other or come in contact

There are plenty of keepers who do that and it seems to work. How big are the chams?
