Importeur from Cameroon

Benny,

It is illegal to import most WC chameleon species from Cameroon into the European Union due to the EU's additional regulations regarding wildlife. Some species from Tanzania that are also banned can be acquired in the EU still because Tanzania has a government approved captive breeding program of some species through Joe Beraducci. There is no such program in Cameroon and all animals from Cameroon are thus WC and would be subject to the EU ban. The only way for you to legally import most of these species would be to import CB specimens from the US or another country where they are bred.

Hi Chris,

there are a few species where the import is legal (Ch.oweni, cristatus, quadricornis) and I think these are quite interesting species.

Best regards
Benny

Benny,

That is true. I don't know of an exporter myself but you should be careful because the exporters in that part of Africa are known for being sketchy. Also, I know a number of people who have worked with Cameroon exporters trying to get Ch. (T.) oweni and had a lot of trouble. They are a very hard species to get them to find and collect for some reason. Don't forget about Rh. spectrum.
