couldnt think of a better title atm. read several times chameleons feel safe at 6feet above ground. is this true? and how important is it?

I just finished build my enclosure approx 24x24x48 with feet that are few inches. The ideal plan was to have 2 foot legs to put a drainage bin under but ran out of supplies and time since didnt build it at home and got help. might be unlikely to finish at home cause have no tools and complete noob handyman. my bro in law built most of my enclosure have a thread about it if interested to check out

My chams like being up high enough so they basically look down on the room. The top of my cage is 8 feet. They come down but tend to stay in the top. Its an arboreal lizard so night or lack there of plays a factor.

Well i feel like no matter what the cage is could be 4 feet could be 10 feet off the ground they will always be towards the top end of the enclosure. Like with my enclosure not really ever expecting the cham to come towards the bottom unless i decide to free range crickets.

Does cage sitting close to floor level stress them out though? is it a very important thing

IMO it's pretty major to have your chameleon OFF the ground. At Least 4ft off. I feel as though chameleons just cower when you stand over them which is basically what you are doing when you do not raise their cage off of the floor. I'd say it totally stressed them out

thanks this is kind of response i like appreciate it.

however i do think having it 4 feet from the ground is a bit extra would make doing anything with lights or top of the enclosure difficult to reach 8+ feet. Think id do 2 or 3foot legs if i do.
