I want to change the world....

We watched this video in one of my classes, and I just really love the idea and I am trying to talk to my pastor and get something like this started where I live. But I think this is an amazing thing, and the whole geriatric community and abandoned/unwanted pets would get love and affection, and the geriatric community would be happy.

I know everyone dies, but dying lonely and depressed shouldn't be an option for anyone. Please watch this video, if enough people tried, I'm sure something similar could be accomplished and it would be good for everyone involved.

Tell me what you think :)

I guess it just really spoke to me because I want to be a nurse, and I love people and I just want everyone to be happy and have the best possible life they can...

I think that is a great idea! It is definitely the kind of place I would want to go when the time comes. I can't imagine living in a place without any animals. I never have and am not sure I ever could. What a wonderful thing they are doing and I hope that by the time I'm old enough to be in a nursing home, places like that are common.

It would be amazing. The animals even brought down the rate of infection in the facility and was therapeutic both mentally and physically :)

It's a nice idea I have to say but there are drawbacks. I am a nurse and I have worked in care homes. One home I worked in decided to have two kittens. These kits didn't belong to anyone specific so no one actually looked after them. I would come on duty and find there was no food for them and someone had fed them soup! The result was not good. They eventually became sick. Who pays the vet fees? The home I work in now has had various birds. Same thing. The resident the present one belongs to is no longer able to care for him. So who does? I found his food dispenser on the floor this week. I try to educate others but its hard work. Now dogs, three members of staff have been willing to bring them in when on duty. That worked because they belonged to people who were accountable for them, myself included. The residents loved them, in one instance a relative placed their loved one with us because we had dogs in most days. I have to say they were very well behaved. A visiting person from head office who doesn't like dogs complained and now there is a blanket ban on dogs coming to work with their owners right through the company. We are allowed to pay for therapets to visit for one hour a week. In my experience most residents benefit from being around animals and can talk about it for days. Squeek, from reading your posts and threads you come across as a very caring person and would make an excellent nurse. Good luck in your studies.:)

In the clip I got the feeling that that nurses cared for them, along with the patients who weren't as bad off. I would be willing to take care of the animals or even gets volunteers to :)

Thank you:) that means a lot to me:)
