Ok um i bought a yemen chameleon about a week ago. she was the last one in the shop and a female. i asked today and the guy told me she is around 6 months old! she's quite big and i'm wondering would i need to mate her anytime soon? the guy in the shop said she could have eggs on her own in about a month but i was reading up and it said i would need to mate her with a male. if i miss her first ovulation will she die eggbound? this is the first time i've had a female chameleon and i'm quite worried. she is also very tempermental and grumpy at the moment. is this normal? sorry so many questions! thank u!

No, she will not die if you don't find her a mate. It is best not to breed them until they are at least a year old and have finished growing. Females can and do lay clutches of infertiles without ever seeing a male. Make sure you provide her with a laying bin in case you miss the signs that she needs to lay.
