I am a rookie

She already looks 100% better than when i got her. I am just so happy i might be able to make her life better.

I really appreciate all the help i have recieved, i got rid of the pete moss, the glass on top, and am just going to get a UVA light. I am very thankfull for this site, my girl looks better for sure.

I love my tank, but im serously thinking about building a mesh cage just for her. I want to see her survive, anything i can do will me worth it.

could you tell that from the pic?

By looking on so many people's different kinds of husbandries on this site you get a type of a chameleon eye ;) You can tell whose more healthy and those who are living the worst.

Your chameleons eyes isnt sunk in. Which means the the dehydration isnt a problem. I can see a lighter color while she is sleeping in the night and the colors are truly there. That means that the general state is good. Now i dont see anything inside your cham... examples, kidneys, poop or urnate.

I guess veiled chameleons love it higher than wider in their housing ;) How old is she now?

heating-wise, when you go to turn off her daytime basking bulbs you can replace them with infrared heat bulbs for the night so she stays warm. I think that to be the best idea. Just wait for the bulbs to cool before unscrewing them lol.

My fingers are already burned to H***.

How or why would you want to see those things? I guess I could cut her open, but not really wanting to do that, i love my girl.

Laughin here in my room haha, i dont want to see that... I said like now, I dont see the inside so i cant see if she is healthy inside.. Not that i want you to rip her open.

sorry for my english :p

is there anyone that would accept a phone call? I would really like to chat to some one about this.

Is that fake turf grass stuff a good thing to use for the bottom of my cage?

in your case, it wont be bad. to me a cold glass bottom will keep feeders cold and moving slow.
it will also help with humidity since you just took out all your substrate...btw, what is your humidity now?

just clean it about once a week or two depending on how dirty it gets.

My humidity goes from 50% when I am not misting and to 75-80% when I mist. I need to get my temps up, My cage is in a fairly cold shop, the infrared bulds i had were burning my live plant. household bulbs don't seem to warm it enough, mybe if I put like 3-4 of them it would. Also, I have a repti-glo 5.0 48" bulb and a spot grow buld for lighting, is this sufficient?

just what is your temps in your basking spot?
if it's 80F-85F, then that is all you need.

the infra red bulbs are no good regardless, as your cham does see them durring the day and the one on the side is like having headlights in your eyes all day and NIGHT.

if anything, you can use ceramic bulbs like I posted on page 4 of this thread.
btw, I sent you a PM incase you wana talk more and see if we can get this perfect for your cham...I'm realy conserned about her sleeping at night with the infra red bulbs.
I have a few ideas that could solve this problem...give me a call. I'm home most of the day.

i think that my girl veiled has broken ribs, they are not in a straight line. The vet gave her a clean bill of health, but they look wierd to me, I might be an over paranoid parent but still. she still doesn't eat well.

I just took another look at her photo, and she looks great to me.
any retard vet would be able to point out or see broken ribs and I'm sure it would spell death real quick if they were realy broken.

give her time by herself, yet let her get used to you as well.

she will eat better in time, or maybe she might have a realy small infertale clutch of eggs brewing inside and she could use a large flower pot or tub with playsand/soil mixed together as a laying bin inside her tank...it was the one last thing I wanted to speak to you about yesterday on the phone.

she doesn't look graved to me, but others would be better to ask.

she might also be sick and tired of crickets and the mealworms you are offering her...try silkworms, butterworms, and hornworms.
sometimes giving her a different food that she hasn't had in a long time can stimulate her into feeding well.
even you will get sick of eating burgers every day.
