Humidity?

I know I saw some were the best level of humidity but I cant find it know:(. So if some one can tell me what it is Please :D And any suggestions on how to keep your levels to stay up. I have real plants a foggier and I mist till it is well spotted with water and I cant get it to stay above 46%. plus I have a cold humidifier going in the room. Would hot humidity be better? I did my misting and it was 84% I did a couple things wasn't gone 10min and it was 36%. Is 36% good enough or do I need to take drastic measures:confused: I have a all glass cage with a screen lidd and vents on the front. But it is 18x18x18 and he is just a baby.

Hmmmm... you shouldnt have a hard time keeping levels up in a glass enclosure.. Sure your guage isnt WHACK?;)

if you are using one of those analog meters they tend to have really high error

its usually pretty easy to keep humidity up in a glass tank, perhaps post a picture of your setup. I'd agree with Davonat that the culprit is possibly a busted analog meter rather than actual difficulty :p On an unrelated note, you know that you will have to upgrade him to a much larger setup within a few months tops.

If you have "typical" humidity around 40-50% and it goes up to 80%ish when you are misting, and goes back down to 40-50% after, this is ok...you do not need to make it 80% all day like you would with frog tanks/etc

EDIT: Be careful not to flood out your tank/overwater your setup in trying to increase humidity. I have killed many plants in my planted tanks when I first started making this mistake

I just got it like a week ago so I hope not:(. Maybe I will move every thing over to the glass one.
It is real dry here, we are considered a high desert.

I always calibrate mine before I use them in my enclosures. I use a warm damp towel and calibrate it to 90%

I dont know how to post pics but here is some info. it is a Zilla Thermometers, Thermostats with a prob for each the cage is glass on 2 sides screen on top and 2 sides15 wide 19 tall. I have 2 plants a pothos and a ficus paper tole on the bottom. Does that help if you need more info just ask.

Look on the back I think I got the same ones. There should be a little hole with a little flat head screw that you can turn

If you have live plants, a fogger, and are misting, your ambient RH has to be higher than that.
Not saying you are lying or anything;) but your device is!

I guess I cant say that with total certainty, but I lived in the desert last summer, and the ambient RH in my house was as low as 5%.
I had to use a fogger, 24/7 to keep it acceptable for a jackson.

I would try another measuring device.

:DWell I tried your guys Ideas about the wash cloth and it went up to 99% really fast so I dont think it is that. But I havent been running my fogger full out all the time. That is my mistake. I should have run that more. Thanks for pointing that out. I fill like a dork I should have thought of that.
Thanks every one for your help.:D

I did not mean that you should.

I had to to keep my girl from drying out.
It was a terrible summer last year.
Like triple the previous record for days over 100F.
Super, super, duper, dry.

So I ran it all the time.

That may help you.

You will have to find what works for you.
Too much humidity is a bad thing.

I dont use the fogger now that Im by the coast.
