Humidity

I really need a good way to keep up the humidity. I need a live plant but because of the season any gardening store near me doesn't have anything. I run a space heater and humidifier in my room sometimes. I think it helps a bit but I find myself misting the enclosure more than twice a day. Advice?

Can I ask where you live? Are there no Home Depots and Lowes around you? They usually keep at least Pothos year round. Also, can you post a picture of your enclosure? I'm curious as to why maintaining the humidity in your particular enclosure is proving difficult. Hopefully with a pic, we can help you out better. Even though my humidity is fine.....My Mistking still activates more than twice a day, so that is not a big deal.

I live in michigan. Ive been to any sstore thatmay carry live plants but my home depot has an outdoor garden so they dont have any live plants there. I think its the heat lamp drying up the water i sprat on the leaves. Its only a 50 watt bulb.

He looks all wrinkly because he is about to shed. You can tell by looking at his dorsal ridge in that picture. I'm not a huge advocate of buying plants online, but if I didn't have any available to me...I would. I don't know if that is something you are interested in. Also, being a veiled, they don't need as much humidity as other species. What are your numbers running at right now?

Normal temp is 80, basking 95, and humidity is only at 65%

If your humidity is at 65% then you're doing better than you think. Especially since it is winter time. That is a great number for a veiled. Look up the average humidity in Yemen and Saudi Arabia....you're number is good. The average humidity in Aden, Yemen(just for an example) is roughly 75% January - May and 60-65% humidity for the rest of the year. Now that is an average...number can spike and fall. You don't want 80-90% humidity all the time, that will cause respiratory issues. I can tell you are emphatic on making sure you are doing everything correctly, and that is good!

Really? Wow I thought the humidity level needed to be like 80-90%. Also I went out and found a Pothos plant at my grocery store suprisingly. How big do they get?

As big as you want them to get. They have a relatively small leaf size here due to the environmental factors. In their native area, they get absolutely huge. You should look up some pics. A couple of plants can fill your cage in no time. They are also easy to manipulate which is nice in a chameleons enclosure!

I was going to suggest going to a grocery store but you beat me to it. The local grocery store by me usually has a pothos or two in the floral section. I recently saw a few jade plants as well!

This plant was grown in FL, and has relatively large leaves already.
