Humidity readings

Hello all,
i have 2 Chameleons and 1 snake right now, and i have a humidity gauge in each one, they are the clock looking ones (sorry couldn't think of the name of them) So in my snakes it reads 40, in my baby's cham cage (just put out of use got a new cage for him so no water in there) it reads 60, in my veilds cage it reads 35 and it has lots of plants in there.

So today i bought a Exo Terra digital humidity reader its reading 28 in a big Ficus tree in my baby panthers cage.

My question is are the non digital humidity gauges inaccurate?

Also 28 is to low tho right, I have the cage on an auto mister for 4 times a day at 5 mins each misting. In the cages i have many big plants and i live is socal.

Should i add a humidifier?
