How To Sex Sub-Adult T. Quadricornis

In a couple of weeks, I'll be picking up my wc "farmed" sub-adult male Trioceros quadricornis.

I have bought a male, but I want some guidance so that when I look at him and choose him from the group, I'll be able to recognize that I am in fact getting a male.

I know very little about the species and am very much a novice, although I am getting some advice from Bill Strand of DragonStrand and Laurie of this forum.

Thanks.

Sexing juvenile quads

You'll be able to tell a male by the nose horns (females do not have horns). It takes a little while for horns to show up, but you don't want to be selecting such a small individual from an import anyways. In this particular case, select one with some nose horns (they'll be small, but obvious) and you'll be fine.

You can always text pictures to Bill or I. You know we are here to help.

I might do that Laurie. I told the store owner I wanted the biggest they had. I'll stop in the store Tuesday and find out a bit more about the group that mine is coming out of--what age range they are likely to be. I'll have a look at their size, too.

Thanks for all your help.
