How to keep umberlla plant alive in cage?

Hello, i decided im going to put my umbrella plant back in Clea's cage but how do i keep it alive and to do good? Last time it didn't really work out. Below is a link to a picture of the plant.

PS-Also on the bottom of the plant there are little sprouts that will soon start growing and make the plant biggger but if i cover the soil with rocks how will the sprouts continue to grow?

All you have to do is make sure it gets enough water but not too much. It should dry a bit between waterings. Not always be a soppy mess.

Thats about it.

How's Clea doing?

Thank you. How many times should i water it like once a day or what?

Clea is really confusing me. I dont know if she may take longer to lay the eggs because she was 2-3 months younger than a year but i really dont know. She still is eating though

I never water mine as the regular misting 4x a day provides more than enough water. In some of my montane cages I have had to create a runoff so that only some of the water can reach the plant. It is VERY important that it doesn't remain soggy all day. Hope this helps man!

Thank you. I will see how that goes. So i will mist and then just let it grow like that and not pour water into the pot. Thank you

Your umbrella plant will probably get enough water from the mistings. Mine is not exposed to Thaxter's mistings or dripper, and I water it once a week; it's been going strong for a couple years now. Once a day is a lot more than they need.

Ok so once week plus the water it gets from the mistings?

Try it with the mistings alone; I'd water once a week only if it's placed somewhere where it's not getting water from the mistings and/or the soil is clearly dry to the touch after the first week.

Can you position the rocks around the sprouts? - There would be a little soil exposed, but it would probably be something Clea would really have to go out of her way for. Otherwise, just pile the rocks on and the sprouts will either be crushed or will push their way through the cracks.

ok thank you will do:)

Dont worry if you cover them up even a bare branch will sprout back. i have these growing around my house. The bare branches have lil sprouts coming back in....FYI i bought a few pothos from walmart $3 a piece they are small when left outside for a week with light watering they double in size and the vines get longer really quick...you can also take cutings from a hearty pothos and put it in a bottle of water when it has a root system you can replant it. also pothos will wrap around smaller branches and make the branches biger with their vine so no need to purchase biger vines every couple of months. i also advise anyone who is having trouble with their plants to add a growing bulb in a dual tube light fixture. i will soon be doing the same thing. then all problems solved. also if you put a heating pad on low between a towel under the cage it will warm the plant enough to keep excess water from builing up. this doesnt always work. i had to do this last winter cause it was to cold to put my plants in the sun.

yeah i took some clippings of a pothos and it is growing like crazy in my pygmys cage. When it gets bigger its going in Cleas cage

Exactly, they should lay after 30 days, if its been about 40-50 and youve seen eggs ( I saw the egg bump pic) and she is still eating etc. Thats a problem
